A superb bass player and a fine record event producer.
Stan is currently working and performing in Japan with his Duo, adding additional instrumentalist when the opportunity presents itself. He is general manager of an AKASAKA jazz club in Tokyo Japan. Where he also does most of his performing.
Stan has reintroduced west coast USA jazz to Japan by producing, recording and performing on several successful Japanese record releases including: Pavan. Featuring, flutist Hubert Laws, saxophonist Buddy Collette, guitarist Kevin Eubanks, pianist Llew Matthews, and drummer Harvey Mason.
Pavan won a Gold Disk award by Swing Journal, the leading jazz magazine in Japan.
He has performed and/or recorded with: Cal Tjader, Freddie Hubbard, the Jazz Crusaders, Lou Rawls, Nancy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie, Les McCann. Among his numerous jazz accolades, Stan has also? played classical music as a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Long Beach Symphony and the San Diego Symphony Orchestras.

After graduating from a performing arts high school, she studied vocals, piano and organ at the Manhattan school of music.

Derrick received his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has taught at U.C. Berkeley, UCLA, Loyola Marymount, and most recently at Yale University.
As a poet, he has appeared in the films Higher Learning and Panther, as well as on television shows like the NAACP Image Awards, The Arsenio Hall Show, and The Apollo Comedy Hour. Derrick has toured with such artists as Me'Shell Ndge'Ocello, Howard Hewitt, Peter Gabriel, Arrested Development, Midnight Oil, and Earth, Wind & Fire. He recorded a poetry/spoken word CD, entitled All That And A. Bag Of Words, on Quincy Jones' Quest Records, and played a lead role on the Rolling Stones' Voodoo Lounge CD-ROM. He is the editor of Catch the Fire- A Cross-Generational Anthology of Contemporary African-American and HennaMan? Both published by Riverhead/Putnam Books.
He is currently completing a book entitled From Watts to Leimert Park: A Comparative Historical Study of Black Poetry Movements in Los Angeles. In September of 2002 he will begin a professorship at the University of Michigan,Ann Arbor.
